Well, the powers to be at the University of Colorado Hospital have decided that it will be best if I have my Bard Power Port implanted under my skin in my subclavian vein taken out. It was put in on my right chest wall on June 13 2011. The end of the catheter terminates in my right atrium and may have caused my blood clot in my heart or at least is contributing to it. Hopefully, with the removal of the Bard Power Port, my blood clot will resolve QUICKLY.
Once they take the Bard Power Port out, I will have to have peripheral IVs started in my arms and/or hands for my weekly Velcade/Decadron chemotherapy. However, I am all for the removal of the catheter since my activity has been severerly limited by the presence of the blood clot in my heart...and I'm an active gal...or at least, I used to be ~~~
I'm waiting for them to call me with the scheduled date and time for the removal. I'm hoping they will use conscious sedation like they did when I had the Trifusion Hickman Catheter removed - I'm so weanie....
