My Stem Cell Transplant Calendars September - December 2011

My stem cell transplant calendars. After I am given my own stem cells on September 13th, I will have to be montiored for at least 100 days here in Colorado before I could head back home to Mackay, Idaho.

I will spend at least 2-3 weeks in the hospital beginning September 12 2011 and then 1-2 weeks in a hotel near the hospital before I can return to Jani and Robbyn's place in Greeley, Colorado.

Around Day 60, they will decide if a 2nd stem cell transplant is warranted. If so, I'd have to start with my Day 0, Day 1 to Day 100 AGAIN.

Remember, you can click on each to calendar page to enlarge them for reading.

Night 3 University of Colorado Hospital August 25 to 26 2011

I had a good night, still have nausea, but pretty well controlled with Zofran IV, Zantac by mouth, and a small dose of Ativan. I didn't get my creepy legs syndrome until 3:30 AM and 1/2 of Percocet took care of that.

Change of Shift Day 3 Days to Evening August 25 2011

Here at the University of Colorado Hospital 11th Floor BMT Unit, I have the nicest nurses and whats more important is that they are very skilled and work seamlessly together. On top of that they are all nice!

Trifusion Hickman Catheter Dressing Change August 25 2011

Nurse Kelly changed the dressing over my Trifusion Hickman Catheter Dressing this afternoon. She had a different adhesive cloth cover vs the Tegaderm plastic cover I used to have. We are crossing our fingers and TOES that I do not react to the adhesive on the new cover.

VDT-PACE Chemotherapy Inpatient August 23 2011

Johanna, RN drew my blood from the Trifusion Hickman Catheter. Around 5:30 PM, she started the VDT- PACE Chemotherapy IV. My Thalidomide hasn't shown up here from Curascript - so, I won't be getting it tonight. I'm sure it will show up tomorrow.
The chemotherapy is light sensitive, so they put a sunglasses bag over it~

Inpatient Hospitalization at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) August 23 2011

Checked in to the University of Colorado Hospital at 1:30 PM this afternoon. Jani and I made ourselves comfortable. The room is big with a big private bathroom with a shower.
I have a great view from the 11th Floor of the University of Colorado Hospital.
The view includes the front range too.
Gave them a copy of my Durable Power of Attorney for Medical Decisions and Advanced Directives.
My admission weight was 147 pounds. My weight was 140 at diagnosis and has gone as high as 157 during Velcade chemo.

Walked 1.23 Miles Prior to Hospitalization August 23 2011

Walked 1.23 miles with Jani and the dogs this morning before we left for the University of Colorado Hospital where I will be an inpatient for 4 days through Saturday August 27 2011.

I will be receiving the VDT-PACE chemotherapy regimen consisting of Velcade IV, Decadron IV, Thalidomide by mouth, Cisplatin (P) IV, Adriamycin IV, Cytoxan IV, and Etopside IV in and attempt to get the cancer load in my bone marrow down to ZERO before I harvest stem cell again. Don't send flowers - they are not allowed on the oncology floor.
